Minchu's Second Week: Naming Ceremony, Naps & New Discoveries

Hi again! It’s me - still going by "Minchu," although this week I got five official names whispered into my ear. FIVE! More on that in a bit.

In case you missed last week's highlights, it's here.

Week 2 Highlights

This week has been full of new rituals, new people, and big milestones. I learned how to cry louder, poop better, and smile sneakily (especially when people say "aww" too many times). Also, I had my Namakarana — my first party with decorations, snacks, and cameras everywhere!

🍼 Feeding & Pooping: The Eternal Cycle

Let’s just say I’ve kept the grown-ups on their toes. I’ve:

  • Mastered the art of pooping right after they clean me.
  • Peed strategically during sponge baths - a few times directly on Appa!
  • Decided I prefer feeding only after I'm clean and comfy. Who wouldn't?

Appa and Amma have a whole "poop protocol" now - complete with tubs, towels, hot water, and backup outfits. I feel like royalty.

🌞 Sunshine & Sleepytime

Appa keeps taking me out to see someone named "Sun." I like him, mostly - he gives me the warm fuzzies. But sometimes he shines too brightly, and I squint like a confused kitten.

I’ve also been practising longer naps, especially in arms. I do not like being put down immediately. Appa has to do a rock-rock-dance to make sure I don’t open my eyes again!

🧘 Ceremonies & Customs

This week, we had a get-together when my umbilical cord fell off. They prayed to Bhoomidevi and planted a banana tree with my little cord. Felt pretty important.

Then came the punyahavachanam — a sprinkle-sprinkle water party where everyone looked so serious while I napped like a log. Maybe because it was quite early in the morning

But the biggest thing? My Namakarana! (or naming ceremony!) There was a decorated cradle, lights, snacks, and a lot of confusion. People kept arguing about who gets to say what name. In the end, Appa whispered all five, but Appa said I can reveal only one! Vedavit! - one who knows the Vedas.

I want to keep all 5? I feel like a little superhero with a secret identity! (I know Appa felt the same when he learnt of his 5 names too!)

💬 People I Hung Out With

  • Ninja & Jojo (they brought yummy puff and chips smells)
  • Anjana Aunty (said I smiled at her 20 times!)
  • Thathas and Ajjis — always around with hugs, food, and photos
  • Putty made my invite card and brought jackfruit (yum smell!)
  • Sindhu Mai gives me oil massages every day — I love the warm baths afterwards
  • And so many others who came to see me for my big event!

🐣 Little Things I’m Learning

  • Amma and Ammamma are the best! Amma wakes up so many times in the night to feed me and to see if I'm comfortable. Ammamma snuggles with me all morning and makes sure everyone else is comfortable, too!
  • Holding onto Appa’s fingers with my tiny fists. (He gets so emotional!)
  • Enjoying oil massages and hot water baths! The post-bath naps are so peaceful.
  • Not a fan of swaddles in hot weather… I like to stretch!
  • Getting used to the sound of rain - it makes for great nap-time music. And the cool weather makes my skin tingle when Appa takes me out to see the rain.

🧸 My Thoughts This Week

This world is busy! So many events, smells (Appa is obsessed with me smelling everything because I can't eat them yet), and textures. But I’m getting the hang of it. I still cry when I need to, snuggle when I can, and make sure they don’t forget who's boss (hint: it's me).

Also, I heard about this place called Mysore - we traveled in a car for hours, and I slept the whole way. Seems like a great place so far.

Minchu's Week 2 Stats

  • Feedings: Still countless! But I'm letting everyone else sleep longer in the night.
  • Poops: More than twice a day.
  • Sleep Pattern: Still figuring it out.
  • Special Skills: Sleeping on my back with my head tilted just like Amma. Giving poses like I'm pondering about the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.
  • Favorite Activity: Peeing on Appa - he makes funny faces!

Until next week,
Minchu (a.k.a Vedavit)

P.S. I like this place. People smile when I yawn.
