Minchu's Tenth Week - Rolling Into New Territory
May 31 - June 6, 2025

Hello again, world! Your increasingly mobile correspondent, Minchu, here with the most exciting week yet! This week I discovered the art of rolling, experienced the luxury of a joli, and had some major family reunions. What a journey it's been since my first week when I was just figuring out basic sleeping and eating! Buckle up for this action-packed adventure report!
🎪 The Great Joli Experience
The biggest game-changer this week was the introduction of my new sleeping quarters - the joli! For those unfamiliar with this magnificent invention, it's like a cosy swing-bed hybrid that rocks gently. Appa and Amma got one from Suhas uncle when I was a tiny tiny baby, they hadn't set it up, but boy, they don't want to tear it down now!
First impressions of joli life:
- It's like sleeping on a cloud that gently moves!
- Perfect size for my current proportions (though everyone says I'm growing fast).
- Great for afternoon naps while I give the adults some time to do their own thing.
- Getting in and out is a bit of a production, but totally worth it.
- I look absolutely adorable sleeping in it (based on all the photos being taken)
The only downside? Everyone keeps saying I'll outgrow it soon. Why do adults always focus on the negatives? I'm enjoying it NOW, thank you very much!
🤸‍♂️ My Rolling Revolution
BREAKING NEWS: I've discovered rolling! Well, sort of. During one of my massage sessions, I accidentally flipped from my belly to my back. The adults went ABSOLUTELY WILD! This builds on all my grip strength development from last week.
Here's what happened:
- I was on my tummy during massage time.
- Somehow, I found myself on my back.
- Everyone started cheering like I'd just solved world peace.
I tried to recreate this miracle later during tummy time, but rolling on command is harder than accidental rolling. I'm perfecting this skill - it seems to be a real crowd-pleaser!
🥠Mango Season Adventures
Appa said mango season is coming to a close, and is giving me the final sniffs of what he said is the season's finest.
- I still think fresh mangoes are absolutely divine! No wonder they call it the king of fruits.
- Watched adults eat something called "aamras" with puris.
- Experienced the making of mango muraba, from what I can tell, it's a tangy jam.
I can't wait until I'm old enough to taste these magical golden fruits everyone's so enthusiastic about!
🏠Appa's Moving Adventures
Appa had quite the adventure this week - moving our things from our old Bangalore home to Ajja and Ajji's place. While he was away, I made sure to:
- Be extra good for Amma (mostly).
- Practice my sleep skills in the joli.
- Miss him just enough to make his return special.
- Smile at him while sleeping when he comes home.
I heard Appa talking about it being "the end of an era" - whatever that means. All I know is he seemed happy to be back with us!
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Reunion Time
The highlight of the week was when Ajji, Vasanthi Ajji, and Bhaskar Thatha came to visit! Meeting family members is always exciting:
- They seemed very impressed with my cuteness level.
- I showed off my best baby skills.
- Got passed around for cuddles and photos.
- Became a bit cranky eventually (all that attention is tiring!)
Appa thinks I'm an extrovert, though sometimes all the excitement makes me need extra sleep time.
🤔 Deep Baby Thoughts
I've been thinking about this rolling business. It seems like such a big deal to the adults, but to me, it just felt like a natural movement. I wonder what other "normal" things I do that will cause celebrations?
The joli makes me feel very secure and cosy. I think I understand why babies like being rocked - there's something about the gentle movement that reminds me of my first home. Though I must say, this new home has much better views and more interesting smells!
📊 Minchu's Week 10 Stats
- Head Control: Appa takes many, many photos of me in the cobra pose
- Grip Strength: Can grasp and shake a rattle, though someone needs to put it in my hand first
- Communication: Multiple new coos and cries - keeps the adults guessing what I want
- Sleep: Joli all the way! And side-lying, of course
As I wrap up this tenth week report, I'm amazed at how much I've learned! From accidental rolling to joli mastery, every day brings new adventures.
Next week promises even more excitement - I'm determined to master intentional rolling, and I heard there might be more family visits. Plus, I'm getting better at predicting when the adults need me to be extra charming (usually when they look tired).
Until next week's adventures! You can follow my continued rolling progress in week eleven and see how I master intentional rolling by week fifteen.
With accidental rolling skills and joli comfort, Minchu 👶
P.S. To whoever invented the joli that attaches to the window grill - you are a genius! It's like a personal rocking chair that follows me everywhere. Best baby accessory ever!
